Gimme some candy corn!

So... its only a few days till Halloween and with typical Cely-style, I'm behind!  I haven't put on my Halloween Jamberry nail wraps, I haven't carved my pumpkins that have been sitting on my dining table for 2 weeks, I haven't bought any candy for trick-or-treaters, and I definitely haven't posted very many Halloween projects on my blog! Egads! I'm starting today with this candy corny card:

The image is from Tiddlyinks.  Isn't she so stinkin cute? She's a candy corn fairy! I colored her with Copics and added glitter to her wings.  The super cute candy corn paper is from a mini Halloween mat stack by K&Co.  I'm not sure of the name because I used up the whole pack about a month ago and threw away the cover.  I'm actually pretty proud that I used the whole thing! *beams* LOL Added some SU cardstock and sequins from Calypso's Cards on Etsy (love her!)

So this will be the beginning of (hopefully) getting on the Halloween track.  See you in a bit for another Halloween project!

Getting to Know Me

Aloha bloggy buddies!

This is a different kind of blog hop, it is called "Getting to know me" I have been given four questions to answer. I was tagged by my good friend Diana.  She is an incredible woman and has been supporting me and my blog from the very beginning. You can check out her blog here: http://dianamlarson.blogspot.com
These are the following questions I have been asked to answer.

 1. What am I working on?
I just came back from Hawaii and I literally have nothing in my card stash! I have 2 craft fairs this weekend, so I'm making cards like a madwoman. Currently I have 14 card layouts on my desk waiting to be put together.  I make about 5-30 cards per day as I sell these at fairs and in shops around town. Love my job!

 2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I think I'm more cutesy that anything else.  I'm Asian and love Hello Kitty and just everything Kawaii, so it shows in my work.  I struggle to do masculine cards or earthtone cards! My favorite colors to use are pastels. I also think I'm pretty Clean and Simple. I'm also a big fan of corny puns!

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Because I love it! I was a teacher before I did Hawaii Paper Party full time.  Sometimes I miss it, but you really can't beat your own business and especially if that business is doing what you love!  I also like the smiles that come across people's faces when they come by my craft booth and find something they like or that someone else would like.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

Honestly, I think I work pretty backwards! I color images first. Then I pick colors that would suit the image that I just colored. I don't work on one card at a time. I layout a bunch of cards (usually about a dozen) and move pieces around like I'm making one big scrapbook page.  Once I get everything the way I want, I glue everything down.  Everything gets embellished at the same time too. Sequins, pearls, rhinestones, candy dots get added at the end and I apply them to the bunch of cards in my pile at the same time.

I love working with Copics. I'm always experimenting with different techniques and ways to make things look more realistic.  I'm also a big sky sponger too!

This was my best seller this year.  Clean, simple, and punny! :D Even though Copic cards is my main thing, I like to break out my Cricut once in awhile to make a bunch of cards at once.

Here is another one I made for Lia Stampz Design Team. The challenge was clean and simple :) Love the CAS challenges!

I probably color mermaids most often.  I have a thing for mermaids. :)

This was another best seller.  I'm a hobby Stampin Up demonstrator and use their products on all my cards (all my cardstock is by SU). This one I ended up playing with the dress form framelit dies.  Love it! This card was also a big hit in my Etsy shop.

Now for the tagging!

Shirl Nases - my fellow Lia Stampz DT sister and one of my first supporters on my blog.  I got started meeting people by signing up for her swaps!

Nancy Nickel - another fellow Lia Stampz DT sister! She's always so sweet and leave me bloggy love all the time!

Marianne Grimbly - one more fellow Lia Stampz DT sister! She is also a fellow Etsian and sells her cards in her shop called The Card Chalet.

And of course, the person who tagged me is Diana of DL.Art. Thanks so much Diana!

Its May 31! We're halfway through our challenge over at Scribbles Designs!  This month, our theme is "Let Them Eat Cake."  We have a color theme and you need to depict something edible as well.  Here's the theme:

Here's my project:

My "edible" for this challenge is the digi from Scribbles called Birthday Cake (its a freebie up on the blog)!  Colored it simply with Copics.  Popped it up on some die cuts and layered that on top of some glittered card stock from DCWV Glitter Sweet stack.  Cardstock, ribbon, and punches are Stampin Up.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession. You can put words together to create your own sentiment. :) Added one little Robin's Nest Dew Drop. And the sequins are from our very own Calypso's Etsy shop!  They're so amazing :)

Hello my friendals!  Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day weekend! :) Happy belated Mother's day to all the Moms out there (whether a Momma of humans or beastlies!)

It's Monday! Time for another custom card! Here's one I made for some friends who wanted to give a card to another mutual friend! This friend loves thin mints and we sent her a few boxes with the card.

The digi is from Paper Makeup stamps.  Its from the Jennifer Scull set. :) I colored her with Copic markers and added a copic colored thin mint into her hand.  Just some simple embossed paper, paper doily, spellbinders die cut, computer generated sentiment, pearls, and glitter was left to add.

Custom Card Monday! The Chicken Florist

So I'm going to start a new thing here on my blog... I feel like its been a little neglected ever since I opened my Etsy shop and YouTube channel! I have made TONS of cards without posting them to my blog. Shame on me! So, I devised a plan (insert evil laugh).  Every Monday I'm going to post a custom card that I've made for a customer, friend, or family member.  These always are a bit out of the ordinary and deserve a place in cyber space!

Here's my first one:

I had someone who wanted a birthday card for her sister.  She is a tropical flower florist and also a chicken in the Chinese zodiac.  Behold, the chicken florist! :)

Got the chicken from the Country Life cartridge. The tropical flowers are from various Cricut cartridges.  I know I used luau and accent essentials.  I also hand punched some flowers and added pearls.  Love the colors together.  I used Stampin Up's Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, and Tangerine Tango. LOVE this color combo!  I also sponged a sky background.

Hope you enjoyed my first installment of Custom Card Mondays!

There's a new challenge at Lia Stampz this fortnight! We want to see your color/picture inspiration projects!

Here is my project:

I used the digi called Snowflake Fairy.  Colored her with Copics.  The die cuts, paper, cardstocks, glitter, and pearls are all Stampin Up.  The pom pom trim is some I bought a long time ago from Hallmark at their after Christmas sale.  Twine is from Etsy.

Can't wait to see what you guys create!

The last time I posted my Lia Stampz project I promised NYE pictures at Times Square.  Well, all of our phones were pretty much frozen, so I only got this one. LOL. Its of my husband and his cousin, Bethany, in front of the ball drop, after the confetti had fallen!

Scribbles Design Challenge - Midway Project

Its Nov 30! Which means we're halfway through our Scribbles Designs challenge!  This month, we want to see your Remembrance cards and add an (optional) fancy fold. Here's my project:

I used the image called Spring Rain Flowers.  All I did was print them on different shades of green card stocks.  Cut out the middle portion of the big flower and popped it up, to give it dimension.  I added some newsprint paper, stamped on some stems, and added some pearls.  Easy peasy! Love that Sandy's doodle designs are so intricate that you don't really need anything to make the card POP!

You don't need a Scribbles image to play, but if you do use a Scribbles image, however, you can enter as many times as you wish.  Go here to play with us!

We (at Scribbles Designs!) are sponsoring the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge at Trimmie's this week!  The challenge is to Use metal/add a charm!  Here's my project:

I used the digi called Tropical Fish 2 (there are many fish to choose from!).  I colored her with Copics.  I added some Basic Gray paper (cut some waves into it with a circle punch).  I made a tag and used that as part of the background as well.  I finished it off with some linen thread, a metal charm, a paper anchor, and some dew drops.

Can't wait to see the other creations!

Challenge 53 - Use Your Scraps

There's a new challenge at Lia Stampz this fortnight! We want to see you use up your scraps!

Here is my project:

I used the digi called Christmas Reindeer.  I colored him with Copics and texturized him.  My scraps are 1.5" pieces of various scrap papers that I glued together and ran through my Big Shot with the Stampin Up top note die and an argyle embossing folder (so it looks like a quilt).  I also added some Stampin Up baker's twine.

Can't wait to see what you guys create!
