Kitty Bee Monthly Spotlight

Its my turn for the Monthly Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs!  Here's my project:

I used the image called Raccoon 3. Isn't he so cute? This raccoon is very versatile! I think he was initially made for Valentine's, but I'm using him on a baby card.  I colored him in with Copics and punched him out using a SU circle punch.

The paper I used is a little scrap from a SU dsp pack. Cardstock and ribbon are also from SU. The sequins I got from CalypsosCards on Etsy.

Hope you enjoyed my spotlight!

Custom Card Monday - On Wednesday!

So I know its Wednesday.  Better late than never with my custom card monday post! I'm actually really behind in everything.  Orders, design team projects, laundry... Just been a crazy few weeks (I had 4 craft fairs in 2 weeks, eeps!) and I really need to get my buns into gear!

Anywho, here's a custom card for ya:

So this request I got came in from Etsy.  She wanted a card for her doctor brother, who was born in the year of the monkey, and her doctor brother also owns a pet tortoise.  She wanted to encompass all of that into a card for his birthday.  So here we go! LOL. The monkey and tortoise was cut out from the CAC cartridge and I got his outfit from Teddy Bear parade.  I actually did some surgery and cut off teddy's head (ouch!) and stuck the monkey head on his body.  Also did some surgery with the tail.  Came out looking pretty good, I think, you know, considering that he's a FrankenMonkey! Cardstock, ribbon, rhinestones, and googlies are all SU, paper is from my stash.

Aloha Friday Challenge - Kitty Bee - In the Garden Midway

Happy Aloha Friday!!!  Our challenge this time at Kitty Bee is In The Garden.  We are at our midway point! We are also sponsored this month by Imagine That!

Be sure to stop by the Kitty Bee blog and check out what the rest of the DT have created! Here's my project:

I didn't get a chance to request a Lacy Sunshines stamp because I was in the hospital with my Mother that month. But I did use a kitty bee image! This one is called Bun with Carrot.  I inked him up with Copics and popped him up on some circle die cuts.  The card stock and designer paper are both from Stampin Up.  I added a doily, some grass I made with my SU fringe scissors, and some sequins.

Can't wait to see what you guys create! Don't forget to see what's what in the Kitty Bee etsy shop!

The Pitter Patter of Little Paws

If you are anything like me, babies turn me into mush.  If they happen to be baby animals...well then, I become mushy mush.  Our fearless leader Sandy has recently become a new mom to the most adorable puppy.  He is a blonde American Cocker Spaniel and I'm thrilled to be able to introduce you all to Charli.
(3 months old)
How could you not love that face?!  To celebrate his addition into Sandy and Boyd's family, and by extension into the Scribbles Family, we are having a special challenge (in addition to our regular monthly one) featuring Sandy's adorable kitten and puppy images.  There are currently seven images featuring kittens and puppies.  Check them out...
#415 Puppy Pea Pod

#413 Kitten Pea Pod
Whether you are into puppies or kittens, you'll love the new images.  Having just been born, these two are as cute as can be and perfect on any card to welcome a new puppy or kitten to someone's family!

#417 Dog Bone
Good Dog!  Puppies need to chew and I've never met a puppy or dog that isn't happy chewing on a bone.  This little pup is no exception!  I wonder where he plans on burying it when he is finished with it...
#842 Dog House
If you love your puppy you'll make sure that he has the best in homes.  Since puppies need to spend lots of time outdoors, it is important to provide suitable housing.  Check out this set up--three star accommodations, I'd say.  This particular dog house should be written up in Modern Dog Magazine or even in The Bark.  What pup wouldn't be happy lounging in this beautifully constructed home?!

#416 Dog Wash
Puppies with their boundless energy tend to get dirty as they begin to explore their new surroundings.  So make sure you have the right equipment to keep your puppy clean.  Bathing can be fun but it can also be a bit messy so make sure you have the area draped with a tarp and lots of towels at the ready.  Of course, I would have liked to have seen Sandy draw a picture of a cat in a tub.  I'm afraid there'd be no smiling, the cat would look like a drowned rat, and it would probably be hanging from the shower curtains, but it would still be fun to see!

#414 Puppy in Bowl
#412 Kitten in Bowl
Cute, furry, and hungry!  Keeping your new puppy or kitten well fed is also very important and you want to be sure that you start him or her off right.  Puppies and kittens grow very fast and it is important to provide the proper nutrition to help build strong bones, teeth, and muscle, and of course supply them with all the energy they need for play and learning.  Of course, you'll also need to teach your new pet that it is the food that goes in the bowl and not him or her.

Here is my project:

I used Puppy Pea Pod and colored him with Copics.  I also sponged the edges of the die cut with some SU soft sky ink.  All card stock is by SU.  The paper is from my stash and the sequins are from Calypso Cards on Etsy. (Calypso is our DT coordinator at Scribbles :))

So many digitals, so many possibilities!

So there you have it, seven absolutely adorable new images.  Now here is the best part.  If you agree to participate in this special challenge, you get to choose one of the above listed images, absolutely for free BUT you must then use this image on the project that you submit for the challenge.   Want to join in?  Well, if your answer is yes then please email me at: scribblesdesigns_winclaims {at} outlook {dot}com (or by clicking HERE to bring the address up in your email program) with the subject Pitter Patter Challenge and I'll send you a copy of the image you requested. Then use this image to enter the challenge. Know of anyone expecting to add a sweet little baby animal to their family?  Need to create a thank you card for someone who has or will be looking after your own pet?  Or, dog-gone-it, just send someone a card telling them how much you appreciate them, no bones about it!  There are lots of ways to use any of these fantastic new images.

Rules...
Just like in all challenges, there are a few rules to follow:
  • You must request and use the designated image.
  • You are welcome to combine your entry with other challenges.
  • Please link your project post to the challenge blog, not your entire blog link.
  • Please include a link back to this blog in your entry post.
  • The challenge will be open starting today, August 22nd, and close on Friday, September 12th, at 9:00 p.m. PDT.
  • Please be respectful of Sandy's generosity.  If you request an image, we expect to see you enter the challenge.  Avoid having your name added to our 'naughty' list which will prevent you from being able to participate in future special challenges.

Prizes...
Will you help us celebrate Sandy and Boyd's new addition to the family?  Not only do you get one of the images above just for playing along (a $3.00 value), one lucky person will receive a special 'Puppy Power' Digital Package containing four puppy digis + four puppy themed digital papers...
(preview of Puppy Power Digital Package to be inserted later)

AND another lucky person will receive $10.00 worth of images from the Scribbles Designs Store.  We may even have some extra prizes for things like 'Best in Show'.  You just never know.

Ooh,  Ooh,  Ooh...wait there is more.  Currently we have our regular monthly challenge going on and this month the theme is 'Animal Planet' where we want to see an animal on your creation.  Therefore, the creation you make to enter the Pitter Patter of Little Paws Challenge can also be entered in our Animal Planet challenge.  This will mean even more chances to win yourself some Scribbles Designs images.  Wowzers, how is that for extra incentive?  You can check out all the details of our current monthly challenge by clicking HERE.

We really hope that you will be able to join us for this special challenge.  We can't wait to see what you come with using one of these precious new images!

Custom Card Monday

I had a friend who was meeting his girlfriend's kids for the first time.  He was traveling from the US to Thailand to meet them.  Here is one of the cards I made for him to take to Thailand:

I used an image from Bugaboo and made it look like her using some pictures he showed me.  Inked it up with Copics. Both papers are from Making Memories Big Kids paper pad. I embossed the frame using a SU framelit die.  He asked me to put "Greetings From the USA" and "Nice to Meet You, Auey" on it and make sure to put something about music and dancing because thats what she likes.  So I have the ballet shoes on there and printed some musical notes and popped that up as well.  All cardstock is by SU. Added some twine from The Twinery too.

Its August 15! Time for some new design team projects! We've got a new challenge over at Scribbles Designs!  This month, our theme is "Animal Planet."  Here's my project:

The image I used is from the Movember Boys collection and its a bonus image (you get a close up shot of all the animals in the collection!). I inked him up with Copics.  The paper is some retired SU Christmas paper, believe it or not! Added some SU punches and cardstock, and some liquid pearls.

You don't need a Scribbles image to play, but if you do use a Scribbles image, however, you can enter as many times as you wish.  Go here to play with us!

Be sure to stop by the Kitty Bee blog and check out what the rest of the DT have created! Here's my project:

Imagine That is super cool because they have images already colored! WHAT!? I was so excited and added these paper airplanes onto my card.  I added the sky background in the back too that comes in the stamp set.  All I did was add liquid pearls to the clouds and sponged on some SU ink to make the sky blue. The paper is from an old retired SU stack.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! And didn't have to break out the Copics!

Custom Card Monday

Its been awhile since I posted a custom card! It's been a roller coaster these last couple of months.  Since I posted my Getting to Know You post yesterday, figured I'd start back up again today!

Someone on Etsy asked me to make them a Monster High card for their granddaughter.  So here it is!

The image I used was a printable coloring page.  I colored her with Copics. The cool safari paper is from The Paper Studio's Safari Untamed stack. Added some Stampin Up ruffled ribbon and some rhinestones that I got in a RAK a while ago.  Oval dies are by Spellbinders and the speech bubble die is from Stampin Up.

Getting to Know Me

Aloha bloggy buddies!

This is a different kind of blog hop, it is called "Getting to know me" I have been given four questions to answer. I was tagged by my good friend Diana.  She is an incredible woman and has been supporting me and my blog from the very beginning. You can check out her blog here: http://dianamlarson.blogspot.com
These are the following questions I have been asked to answer.

 1. What am I working on?
I just came back from Hawaii and I literally have nothing in my card stash! I have 2 craft fairs this weekend, so I'm making cards like a madwoman. Currently I have 14 card layouts on my desk waiting to be put together.  I make about 5-30 cards per day as I sell these at fairs and in shops around town. Love my job!

 2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I think I'm more cutesy that anything else.  I'm Asian and love Hello Kitty and just everything Kawaii, so it shows in my work.  I struggle to do masculine cards or earthtone cards! My favorite colors to use are pastels. I also think I'm pretty Clean and Simple. I'm also a big fan of corny puns!

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Because I love it! I was a teacher before I did Hawaii Paper Party full time.  Sometimes I miss it, but you really can't beat your own business and especially if that business is doing what you love!  I also like the smiles that come across people's faces when they come by my craft booth and find something they like or that someone else would like.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

Honestly, I think I work pretty backwards! I color images first. Then I pick colors that would suit the image that I just colored. I don't work on one card at a time. I layout a bunch of cards (usually about a dozen) and move pieces around like I'm making one big scrapbook page.  Once I get everything the way I want, I glue everything down.  Everything gets embellished at the same time too. Sequins, pearls, rhinestones, candy dots get added at the end and I apply them to the bunch of cards in my pile at the same time.

I love working with Copics. I'm always experimenting with different techniques and ways to make things look more realistic.  I'm also a big sky sponger too!

This was my best seller this year.  Clean, simple, and punny! :D Even though Copic cards is my main thing, I like to break out my Cricut once in awhile to make a bunch of cards at once.

Here is another one I made for Lia Stampz Design Team. The challenge was clean and simple :) Love the CAS challenges!

I probably color mermaids most often.  I have a thing for mermaids. :)

This was another best seller.  I'm a hobby Stampin Up demonstrator and use their products on all my cards (all my cardstock is by SU). This one I ended up playing with the dress form framelit dies.  Love it! This card was also a big hit in my Etsy shop.

Now for the tagging!

Shirl Nases - my fellow Lia Stampz DT sister and one of my first supporters on my blog.  I got started meeting people by signing up for her swaps!

Nancy Nickel - another fellow Lia Stampz DT sister! She's always so sweet and leave me bloggy love all the time!

Marianne Grimbly - one more fellow Lia Stampz DT sister! She is also a fellow Etsian and sells her cards in her shop called The Card Chalet.

And of course, the person who tagged me is Diana of DL.Art. Thanks so much Diana!

Aloha Friday Challenge - Birthday Boy

I've posted 3x today due to DT projects! See my Lia Stampz Project here.  See my Scribbles Project here.

Happy Aloha Friday!!!  Our challenge this time at Kitty Bee is Birthday Boy.  We are also sponsored this month by Imagine That!

Be sure to stop by the Kitty Bee blog and check out what the rest of the DT have created! Here's my project:

Imagine That is super cool because they have images already colored! WHAT!? I was so excited and added this airplane one to my card.  Just punched him out with a circle punch! So easy! This card also has some SU brushed silver cardstock that was embossed, SU black card stock, and some Robin's Nest dew drops.  The sentiment came with the stamp set! So super simple to use these images and came out great!
